Recipe for Fried Okra
Whenever you get "fried okra" in a restaurant, each piece is invariably a thick coat of breading, deep-fried, under which you might find a shriveled and tasteless piece of okra. Pathetic.
Here's a perfect recipe for fried okra:
1. 2-3 months before dinner, plant some okra seeds in your garden.
2. When ripe, pick the okra. (Don't let it get too big, or it gets wooden and chewy.)
3. Slice.
4. Lightly dust with cornmeal and salt.
5. Fry until tinged with brown in some olive oil (or butter).
Simple, but incomparably better than anything that you can ever get in a restaurant.
