This map shows the locations of the readers of this blog. Most are in the expected locations, although I'd be curious to know who's reading this blog on the far western coast of Australia and in the far northern reaches of Canada.
Far west coast of Australia is Perth, a city of around 1 million souls. My brother lives there. It's the most isolated city in thw world. It took 17 hours of air time to get there from Cleveland.
OK, so given the presence of Perth, the western coast of Australia isn't a mystery. But the above commenter is right: What about the desert in the middle of Australia?
Could the big red dot in the middle of Australia reflect readers from Australia in general whose IP addresses could not be identified as coming from any particular part of the country? That would make more sense than assuming that most of your Australian readers live in the outback.

Please use something other than red. The map looks like an Islamist's wet dream of nuclear strikes or bio-attack hot spots!

central Australia is even more mysterious than the west coast - the dot is bigger and it's desert.

Doesn't the NSA have a joint listening post in the environs of Alice Springs
